Bilingual Family Law Attorney
The Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Center (JAMLAC) is a faith-based non-profit charitable organization (501c3) that provides full civil legal representation for family law, immigration law, and limited civil matters. Our mission is to seek justice for people who are struggling with poverty and oppression in a way that affirms their dignity and strengthens their capacity to positively direct their own lives.
JAMLAC is seeking an experienced Bilingual Family Law Attorney who is a self-starter and comfortable working on a team. This position will work closely with clients, Paralegals, and other Attorneys throughout the civil representation process, including performing intake interviews, case reviews, filing court pleadings, complying with Case Management Orders, and preparing and participating in court hearings.
Primary Responsibilities will include:
- Maintain a full and diverse caseload which includes victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment and stalking, as well as other crimes involving child victims or children of victims.
- Maintain client files, track client progress, close out files, collect and organize documents, draft pleadings and personal statements.
- Provide comprehensive civil legal representation for clients/victims.
- Participate in and assist with training for staff and volunteers.
- Participate in training and outreach activities in the community.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Fluent in both the English and Spanish.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experienced working in Family Law, preferred but not required.
- Communicates effectively, including writing and speaking.
- Has the flexibility, patience, and humor to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
- Interested in interdisciplinary collaboration in a primarily legal services setting.
- Committed to maintaining and expanding professional knowledge.
- Familiar working with clients who are in crisis or are recent trauma survivors.

Salary is competitive ranging from $65,000-$75,000 depending on education and experience. This is a grant funded position.
